Grants and scholarships

We award trainees and doctors with funds they can use for research, study, travel and activities worldwide that support mini传媒入口’s work promoting excellence in women’s health.

For doctors in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand

Applications for the 2024 round of Women鈥檚 Health Foundation research scholarships, fellowships and travel grants are now open,* and will close on Sunday 30 June 2024 at 5.00pm (AEST).

*GPPTSP applications will close on Sunday 28 July 2024 at 11.59pm (AEST). Mizuno-Ratnam Young Gynaecologist award applications for 2024 have closed.

General Practitioner Procedural mini传媒入口 Support Program (GPPTSP)
Are you a rural or remote GP? Find out how this Department of Health funding can assist you to complete the mini传媒入口 Associate mini传媒入口 Program (Advanced Procedural).
Arthur Wilson Memorial Scholarship
Researchers within five years of a Masters or PhD can apply for $60,000 over two years to support research into any aspect of O&G, and related disciplines.
Glyn White Research Fellowship
Victorian-based researchers within five years of a Masters or PhD can apply for up to $25,000 to support research into perinatal medicine.
UroGynaecological Society of Australasia (UGSA) Research Scholarship
Early-career Fellows and Fmini传媒入口 trainees undertaking a research project in the field of urogynaecology can apply for funding of up to $20,000.
mini传媒入口 NSW State Committee Travelling Scholarship
Two $10,000 (or one $20,000) awards are available to New South Wales-based trainees for the purpose of travelling to train in a developing county in the Asia-Pacific region.
mini传媒入口 NSW State Committee Trainee or Fellow Research Grants
New South Wales-based early-career Fellows and Fmini传媒入口 trainees can apply for research funding. These three grants promote academia as a career pathway.
Mary Elizabeth Courier Research Scholarship
Australian and New Zealand medical graduates within 5 years of gaining a Masters PhD or Fmini传媒入口 can apply for $40,000/year ($120,000 in total) for research into gynaecological cancer or high risk pre-cancerous lesions.
Miriam O鈥機onnor Travelling Scholarship
Victorian Fmini传媒入口 trainees and Fellows can apply for a $24,000 scholarship to undertake volunteer work or training in specific regions.
mini传媒入口 QLD State Committee Research Grant
Registered and financial Fmini传媒入口 Trainees and early career Fellows who reside in Queensland can apply for $10,000 to promote academia as a career pathway.
Robert McInerney Medical Project
Fmini传媒入口 Trainees and Fellows as well as other health professionals, scientists and community working in Women鈥檚 Health can apply for $50,000 over two years to conduct research into an area relating to Women鈥檚 Health.
Mizuno-Ratnam Young Gynaecologist Award
mini传媒入口 Fellows and Fmini传媒入口 trainees under 40 years of age can apply to be funded to attend the biennial AOFOG Congress.

The mini传媒入口 Women鈥檚 Health Foundation also administers a variety of scholarships that are offered on a rotating basis. This includes the following scholarships (not offered in 2024, please check this page for availability in early 2025).

Fotheringham Research Fellowship
Early-career mini传媒入口 Fellows and Advanced Fmini传媒入口 trainees can apply for $50,000 over two years to support research in all aspects of O&G, and related disciplines.
Ella Macknight Memorial Scholarship
Researchers within five years of a Masters or PhD can apply for $50,000 over two years to support research into any aspect of O&G, and related disciplines.
Robert Wrigley Pain Research Scholarship
Early-career Fellows and Advanced Fmini传媒入口 trainees can apply for $12,000 of funding per year over two years ($24,000 total) for projects that contribute towards the improved treatment of pelvic pain.
Brown Craig Travelling Fellowship
Early-career mini传媒入口 Fellows and Advanced Fmini传媒入口 trainees can apply for one of two $5,000 travel Fellowships for study or presentation of a scientific paper in O&G.
Mercia Barnes Trust research grants
Each year, the Mercia Barnes Trust invites applications from Aotearoa New Zealand researchers for research fellowships in the area of women’s and reproductive health, up to a value of $35,000 each.
Jean Murray Jones Scholarship
This scholarship provides up to $90,000 in financial assistance to a Western Australian-based mini传媒入口 Fellow or Fmini传媒入口 trainee to undertake training or professional development in women鈥檚 health outside Western Australia.


For First Nations trainees

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Trainee Scholarship

For international O&G trainees and affiliates

Mukhtiar Raghbir Sidhu mini传媒入口 Asian and Pacific Developing Countries Education Grant
Citizens and residents of developing Pacific or Asian countries, who are OBGYN trainees enrolled in a Fellowship Program can apply to participate in a 1-4 week clinical observership in any tertiary OBGYN department in Australia or New Zealand.
mini传媒入口 International Fellowship program
Early-career O&G specialists and advanced trainees from Asia-Pacific countries can apply to participate in a one-week intensive at an Australian hospital, and attend the mini传媒入口 Annual Scientific Meeting.
mini传媒入口 Pacific Scholarship (State and Territory Committees and Te K膩hui Oranga 艒 Nuku)
University of PNG and Fiji National University O&G trainees, and recently-graduated O&G specialists can apply for mini传媒入口 Pacific Scholarships to attend mini传媒入口 events in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
mini传媒入口 Pacific Affiliate member CPD Scholarship
Pacific Affiliate members can apply for this scholarship to attend the mini传媒入口 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Australia.
The Anatomy of Complications Workshop Pacific Scholarship
Current or recently graduated Master of Medicine (O&G) trainees from an eligible Pacific medical school may be nominated to attend the Anatomy of Complications Workshop (ACW) in Perth, Western Australia, with free registration, and funding for travel and accommodation.
mini传媒入口 Brian Spurrett Fellowship
Pacific doctors and nurses can apply for this Fellowship to participate in CPD (usually to attend the mini传媒入口 Annual Scientific Meeting in Australia).
mini传媒入口 Academic Fellowship
Newly-appointed O&G academics at University of PNG and Fiji National University may be nominated for a mini传媒入口 Academic Fellowship by their Heads of O&G.
mini传媒入口 Book Prize
Recent graduates of University of PNG and Fiji National University Master of Medicine (O&G) and Diploma of O&G courses may be nominated for the mini传媒入口 Book Prize by their Heads of O&G.


For high school students

Liam and Frankie Davison award
Senior secondary students resident in Australia or New Zealand聽can apply for the聽$1,000 Liam and Frankie Davison award聽for outstanding achievement in literary writing on聽women鈥檚 health.


For training sites

Specialist mini传媒入口 Program (STP) funding
A funding initiative from the Department of Health to establish and support a variety of new training posts in expanded settings.
