Obstetrics and Gynaecology Education and mini传媒入口 (OGET) project

The Specialist mini传媒入口 Program is a funding initiative from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care to establish and support a variety of new training posts in expanded settings.

What is OGET?

mini传媒入口 has been successful in obtaining funding from the Australian government to develop and deliver the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Education and mini传媒入口 (OGET) project in Australia.

The OGET project addresses the essential need for equitable delivery of health services in Australia. Data collected highlights a significant maldistribution of the workforce with a shortage of maternity and maternity-related services in country towns, and a need for upskilling and training opportunities in rural, regional, and remote areas.

Program aims

The project aims to foster better engagement between the regional hospital and the rural units it services. It also enables both Fellowship of mini传媒入口 (Fmini传媒入口) or mini传媒入口 Associate mini传媒入口 Program (Procedural) (PTP) trainees to interact with practising GP obstetricians to develop a better understanding of the unique skills and needs of medical personnel working in rural and remote birthing units.

This in turn enhances training in the PTP and preparation for rural obstetrics, but also gives Fmini传媒入口 trainees more insight in how to manage calls for advice or transfer from rural units.

Program delivery

The program will be delivered Australia-wide with one hospital selected by mini传媒入口 as a hub in each State/Territory (except ACT), with a primary focus on regional, rural and remote areas.

The program is delivered using a ‘hub and spoke’ model, where the hubs provide onsite or outreach training to their peripheral hospitals in the form of case-based learning and interactive forums. The program is delivered by a Fellow or Associate (Procedural and Adv. Procedural) of mini传媒入口 based at the hub.
